What this tool does
Acceleration is how fast speed changes, so it needs a start speed, an end speed and the time between them. The distance assumes the acceleration is steady; 27.78 m/s in the default is 100 km/h, the usual benchmark.
Formula
a = (v − v₀) ÷ t
Variables
| Symbol | Meaning | Unit |
|---|---|---|
v0 | Initial speed | m/s |
v1 | Final speed | m/s |
t | Time | s |
A | Acceleration | m/s² |
G | Acceleration | g |
D | Distance | m |

Limitations
- The formula assumes ideal conditions: no friction losses, no air resistance and no efficiency losses unless you enter them.
- Mixing units is the most common source of error. Convert every input to the units shown next to each field before calculating.
