What this tool does
Tabletop games ask for things a pocket of real dice cannot always supply — three twenty-sided dice, or eight six-sided ones plus four. This rolls whatever combination you name and shows every individual result, not just the total, because in most systems the individual numbers matter: a natural twenty is not the same as a twenty made up of a fourteen and a six.
Formula
n dice of f faces, plus a fixed modifier

Frequently asked questions
Why is the average of two dice not 3.5?
The average shown is of the dice you just rolled, not of the die itself. A six-sided die averages 3.5 over very many rolls, but any two rolls average whatever they happen to average — that is the whole point. Roll a hundred dice at once and you will see the figure settle close to 3.5.
