What this tool does
There is no single international standard drink: the UK unit is 8 g of alcohol, the US standard drink is 14 g, and several European countries use 10 g. Working in grams sidesteps the confusion. Alcohol carries about 7 kcal per gram, which is why the calories mount up faster than the volume suggests.
