What this tool does
Firewood is sold by stacked volume — a stere is one cubic metre of neatly stacked logs — but the air between the logs is part of what you carry home. Typical stacking factors run from about 0.65 for round logs to 0.8 for split and well stacked wood, so the same stere can hold noticeably different amounts of fuel.
