Free Fall Calculator

Distance fallen and speed reached after a given time of free fall.

Results

Height 44.130 m
Speed 29.420 m/s
Speed 105.91 km/h
Time to fall that height 2.0196 s
Speed on landing 19.8057 m/s
Speed on landing 71.30 km/h

What this tool does

In a vacuum, everything falls at the same rate regardless of mass, gaining about 9.81 m/s of speed every second. Air resistance is ignored here, which matters a great deal for light objects and after a few seconds of falling.

Formula

h = ½ × g × t² , v = g × t

Limitations

  • The formula assumes ideal conditions: no friction losses, no air resistance and no efficiency losses unless you enter them.
  • The result is an estimate based only on the values you type. Real situations often include factors this calculator does not know about.
