Molarity Calculator

Molar concentration of a solution from the mass of solute, its molar mass and the volume.

Results

Concentration 1.00000 mol/L
Amount of substance 1.00000 mol
Concentration 58.4400 g/L

What this tool does

Molarity counts particles rather than grams, which is what chemical reactions actually care about. The defaults use sodium chloride, whose molar mass of 58.44 g/mol makes one gram-per-litre solution conveniently close to one millimolar.

Formula

c = m ÷ (M × V)

Limitations

  • Mixing units is the most common source of error. Convert every input to the units shown next to each field before calculating.
  • The result is an estimate based only on the values you type. Real situations often include factors this calculator does not know about.
