What this tool does
Power is energy per unit of time, and almost every industry invented its own unit for it. Motors are sold in kilowatts or horsepower, air conditioning in BTU per hour or tons of refrigeration, heating in kilocalories per hour. The two horsepowers are the classic trap: mechanical hp and metric PS differ by about 1.4 %, enough to change a specification.

Frequently asked questions
Is hp the same as PS or cv?
No. Mechanical horsepower (hp) is 745.70 W, while metric horsepower — written PS in Germany, cv in Portugal, France and Spain — is 735.50 W. A car quoted at 150 PS has about 148 hp. Both are in the list, so you can convert between them directly.
