What this tool does
A wheel is a shuffle with a good animation on top. What it actually does is put the entries in a random order and read the first one, and that is what happens here — with the whole order shown underneath, because the second and third places are usually what you needed anyway. The seed is written down with the result, so the same spin can be reproduced and checked.
Formula
shuffles the list: the first is the winner and the rest follow in order

Frequently asked questions
Why show the full order and not just the winner?
Because most of the time you do not want one winner, you want a running order: who presents first, second and third, or the order in which a queue of five people gets seen. Shuffling once and reading down the list is fairer than spinning five separate times, and it guarantees nobody comes up twice.
