Inductive and Capacitive Reactance Calculator

Reactance of a coil and a capacitor at a given frequency, plus the resonant frequency of the pair.

Results

Impedance 31.4159 Ω
Impedance 318.3099 Ω
Frequency 159.155 Hz

What this tool does

Reactance is the opposition that coils and capacitors present to alternating current, and it depends on frequency: inductive reactance rises with frequency while capacitive reactance falls. Where the two are equal, the circuit is at resonance, which is the third result shown here.

Formula

X_L = 2πfL · X_C = 1 ÷ (2πfC)

Limitations

  • The calculation runs at full precision and only the display is rounded. If you copy an intermediate value and retype it, small differences can appear.
