Rebar Weight Calculator

Weight of reinforcement bars from diameter, length and quantity.

Results

Mass 426.14 kg
Weight per metre 0.8878 kg/m
Mass 10.654 kg
Length 480.0 m

What this tool does

The constant 162.2 comes straight from the density of steel and the area of a circle, which is why the familiar shortcut d²/162 works for every diameter. Steel is ordered by weight but detailed by length, so this is the conversion between the drawing and the invoice.

Formula

kg/m = d² ÷ 162.2 (steel, d in mm)

Limitations

  • For work that must comply with a standard or be signed off, check the result against the applicable code and have it reviewed by a qualified engineer.
  • The result is an estimate based only on the values you type. Real situations often include factors this calculator does not know about.
