What this tool does
Measure the foot standing, heel against a wall, at the end of the day when it is at its largest, and take the longest toe — which is not always the big one. The Continental size follows the Paris point, one and a half sizes per centimetre of last, and the last is the foot plus a toe allowance of around 1.5 cm. The UK and US scales come from the barleycorn, a third of an inch, which is why they share a step size but not a starting point.

Limitations
- The default values are typical reference figures, not measurements of your situation. Replace them with your own data whenever you have it.
- US and imperial (UK) units with the same name are not the same size. Check which system your figures come from.
- The result is an estimate based only on the values you type. Real situations often include factors this calculator does not know about.
Frequently asked questions
Why do the same feet get different sizes from different brands?
Because the systems measure the last, not the foot, and every maker chooses its own toe allowance and its own last shape. The Continental system counts in Paris points of two thirds of a centimetre; the British and American ones count in barleycorns of a third of an inch, from different starting points. Neither was ever standardised across manufacturers, so take any conversion as a starting size to try on.
