What this tool does

Tightening specifications travel badly between markets: a European service manual gives newton-metres, an American one gives pound-force feet, and an older workshop chart may still use kilogram-force metres. Getting this wrong strips threads or leaves joints loose. One pound-force foot is 1.3558 N·m, and one kilogram-force metre is 9.80665 N·m. Small torque figures are often quoted in lbf·in, which is twelve times smaller than lbf·ft.

Limitations

• The calculation runs at full precision and only the display is rounded. If you copy an intermediate value and retype it, small differences can appear.
