What this tool does
Deadlines are missed quietly, a little at a time, and the moment they become unreachable passes without anyone noticing. This page makes that moment visible. Say how much there is, how much is done, how many days are left and what you are managing on a normal day, and it gives you the rate you need, the date your current pace is really heading for, and by how much you are ahead or behind. Finding out on day four is a different situation from finding out on day nineteen.
Formula
per day = (total − done) ÷ days left

Frequently asked questions
What can I count with this?
Anything that comes in units and has a deadline: pages of a book, pages of a thesis, chapters to revise, kilometres to train, sales to close, rooms to paint, boxes to pack. The calculator never sees what the units are, which is why it works for all of them. The one thing it assumes is that the work divides evenly, so if yours does not — a chapter that is three times the others — count in something smaller.
