What this tool does
The defaults are the classic reference point: one mole of any ideal gas occupies 22.414 litres at 0 °C and one atmosphere. Real gases follow this closely at ordinary pressures and drift away from it when compressed hard or cooled towards liquefaction.
Formula
P × V = n × R × T (R = 8,314 J/(mol·K))
Variables
| Symbol | Meaning | Unit |
|---|---|---|
p | Pressure | kPa |
v | Volume | L |
t | Temperature | °C |
N | Amount of substance | mol |
M | Volume | L/mol |
D | Concentration | mol/L |

Limitations
- The formula assumes ideal conditions: no friction losses, no air resistance and no efficiency losses unless you enter them.
- Mixing units is the most common source of error. Convert every input to the units shown next to each field before calculating.
