Render Time Calculator

How long a render will take on a given number of machines, with the total frames, the cost and the real speedup.

Results

Hours to render 15.0000 h
Frames in total 4320
The same in days 0.6250 d
Hours on one machine 54.000 h
Cost of the render 72.00
Frames an hour 288.00
Machine hours used 60.000 h
Seconds saved per frame 33.750 s
Real speedup 3.600

What this tool does

Frames multiply fast: three minutes at 24 frames a second is 4320 images, and at 45 seconds each that is fifty-four hours on one machine. Splitting the work across machines does not divide the time perfectly — there is always a scheduler, a file server and a slowest frame — so the efficiency is a field here rather than an assumption of a hundred per cent.

Formula

frames = duration × fps · time = frames × seconds per frame ÷ machines

Limitations

  • The result is an estimate based only on the values you type. Real situations often include factors this calculator does not know about.
  • The calculation runs at full precision and only the display is rounded. If you copy an intermediate value and retype it, small differences can appear.
