What this tool does
The MET scale expresses how hard an activity is compared with sitting still, and multiplying it by body weight and hours gives a usable estimate in kilocalories. The last result is the rough fat equivalent, at 7700 kcal per kilogram — a textbook figure, not a promise.

What MET value should I use?
One MET is what your body uses sitting still. Commonly published values are around 3.5 for slow walking, 5 for brisk walking, 6 for cycling at a moderate pace, 8 for running at 8 km/h and 10 or more for fast running. These are population averages: your own figure depends on fitness, technique and terrain.
