What this tool does
Lighting standards are written in lux in most of the world and in foot-candles in the United States, and the two differ by a factor of about 10.76 — the number of square feet in a square metre. An office recommendation of 500 lux is roughly 46 foot-candles. Illuminance measures light arriving at a surface, which is not the same as the lumens printed on a lamp box.
