What this tool does
Two different questions get asked of a ratio: what does it reduce to, and how does it divide something up. Dividing both sides by their greatest common divisor turns 1920:1080 into 16:9; sharing 800 in the ratio 3:5 gives 300 and 500. If what you need is instead the missing fourth number in a proportion, the rule of three calculator does that.
